FRIENDS OF BEDLAM COMMITTEE

Elected at the AGM 29th August 2009

Chair - Chris Cooke

Chris is Founder and Managing Director of the UnLimited Media Group, a London-based media, marketing and content company. This involves spending each August in Edinburgh running UnLimited's Edinburgh Festival media ThreeWeeks, something he co-founded back in his Bedlam days in the mid-nineties. During his four years at Edinburgh University he managed to fit in time as Theatre Manager, President and Marketing Manager of EUTC, as well as producing a few shows and doing a lot of Febfest stuff. He now occasionally blogs at www.stuffbyme.co.uk.

Treasurer - Dave Larking

Dave came to Edinburgh university back in 2000 and while failing his degree found Bedlam. He soon got stuck in to Imp tech fun, there followed a variety of tech and SM work on many shows for next few years. In spring 2006 everyone else took a step back and Dave found himself to be Theatre Manager. He now works as a freelance carpenter and set builder, making things for theatre, TV, film and corporate events.

Secretary - Bex Stackhouse

Bex joined Bedlam in 2001.  During her time there, she acted, directed, and played with lights, as well as being involved in a 2003 costume cupboard rebuild, and joining the committee as President in 2003-2004. As well as spending time in a dark theatre, Bex spent time in a dark sound studio, recording voices for her Linguistics research.

Bex also directed Children's Project (now Youth Project) and after graduating trained as a primary teacher.  After working in Fife for two years, Bedlam called her back to Edinburgh, and Bex now works as an education officer for an environmental charity. This is her second term as secretary for Friends of Bedlam.

Website - Chris Fleming

Chris was around the Bedlam between 1995 and 2000. Whilst at Bedlam he spent his time lighting shows as well as working as Theatre Manager for the Festival in 1998. He now works for Agilent Technologies helping phone networks run smoothly(or not). He has a webpage at www.chrisfleming.org, it may get updated from time to time...

Ruth Wilkinson

Ruth Joined Bedlam in 2004 and was Tech Manager for the academic year 2005/6. During her time in bedlam she was involved in a number of shows including a number which recieved funding from FOB. Ruth also was able to seek advice from old bedlamites through FOB when she re-hung the lighting rig in august 2005. Ruth graduated from University in 2008 and then returned this year to train as a primary school teacher.

Steve Fryatt

Steve joined the EUTC in 1995; between then and 2000 he teched shows, was Front-of-House Manager in 1999/2000 and looked after the Bedlam website from its inception in 1997. Unusually amongst Bedlamites of his era he actually uses his degree in electronics, but despite that still manages to spend some of his spare time in a theatre. These days he mainly does stage management and set construction: www.stevefryatt.org.uk sometimes has more information.
