Old Kirk
To explain the situation, here is an email (29th Oct 2003) from Rebekah Stackhouse, President of EUTC :
As some of you may be aware, there have been some rumours recently about the University being interested in selling Bedlam. Discussion with the University about this issue has been going on for 3 years. The University have a buildings agreement with us which states that they have to find us an alternative premises.
The university have recently offered us another building - the Old Kirk on Holyrood Road. The committee has visited the premises and are currently discussing the situation with both the University and EUSA. We are currently trying to gain as much information as we can. This is and will always be a Company decision and when we have enough information we will let you know. In the meantime please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all about anything to do with this.
Notes by Al (Nov 2003):
As EUTC is an Association of members, a decision to consider moving to another building can only be approved by the members voting at a meeting abiding by EUTC's Constitution.
The University is currently (Nov 2003) looking to get EUTC to agree to take a "proper" look at the Old Kirk as an option. If the EUTC decides in principle it may be interested in this building, then the Uni will have the building properly surveyed. If the building is structurally ok, then it would be time to get architects involved to work out what internals need changed. If the Uni and Esk Properties have the stomach to fund the changes, EUTC would have to have a big scarey vote to decide whether to move.
Here is some information and pictures about the Old Kirk.
Here is a map of where we are talking about.
Here is the pdf plans of the building. You can zoom in. The University owns the copyright to the plans, so please don't abuse....
